The City of Ada is accepting applications for part-time Communications Dispatcher until filled. This position is responsible for providing emergency and non-emergency dispatch services for the 911 emergency dispatch center for City of Ada and Pontotoc County fire, law enforcement, and emergency medical services. Individuals selected must be able to multi-task with telephone, radio, and computer and must be able to work days, evening, or midnight shifts with a minimum of 24 hours per week. The City of Ada is accepting applications until filled for Communications Manager. This is an administrative and highly technical position responsible for the administration, maintenance, upkeep, and proper operation of the Emergency 911 call system. Individual in this position supervises a staff of professional and technical personnel. Successful applicant must possess or obtain within one year the following certifications: OLETS, Basic Telecommunicator, and Emergency Medical Dispatcher. Preference will be given to individuals with a four-year degree from an accredited college or university, two or more years of supervisory experience, and three years of technical experience with a Public Safety Communications system. Comparable experience with advanced military communications system may be substituted for public safety experience. Individual selected must be able to pass pre-employment tests for job compatibility assessment tools, and be able to multi-task with telephone, radio, and computer. The minimum salary is $3,432 per month for this full-time position, which also offers benefits to include retirement, health, dental, and life insurance, vacation, sick leave, and holidays. Individual selected must be able to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on all vehicles and equipment in the city’s fleet, maintain records of repairs performed, and oversee contract engine repair work.
