Parks & Recreation

The Parks Department manages six city parks - including the historic, 150-acre Wintersmith Park - as well as numerous green spaces throughout the community. The Recreation Department maintains two splash parks and two swimming pools. It also coordinates and manages special seasonal events such as flag football, softball, basketball, and volleyball. The 2011 Recreation Schedule is available at the Recreation Department inside the Irving Center, 704 N. Oak, and at Ada City Hall.

The historic Wintersmith Lodge is available for reservations. To reserve the lodge, please contact the Recreation Department at (580) 436-8101. For general questions regarding the Parks & Recreation Department, contact Randy McFarlin at (580) 436-8132.

City pools, splash parks ready for summer
 
  ADA – The City of Ada kicks off its official summer on Tuesday, May 31, by opening its two public swimming pools.
  The Wintersmith Park swimming pool hours of operation are 1-6:15 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and from 1-5:45 p.m. Sunday.
  The Glenwood Park swimming pool is open from 1-5:45 p.m. seven days a week.
  Fees at all pools are as follows:
* 12 & Under – $1.50 per day
* 13 & Over – $2 per day
  The city's two splash parks are now open to the public. The Wintersmith splash park is located inside the pool fence and may be accessed by a gate on the north side until the pool opens on May 31.
  The Wintersmith splash park is free of charge until May 31, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. Once the Wintersmith Park pool opens, the splash park will only be accessible by paying admission and entering the pool area on the south side. After May 31, the pool and splash park at Wintersmith will have the same hours.
  The Glenwood splash park is located west of the main pool and is free of charge all summer. It is available between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
  Season passes are available by contacting the City of Ada’s Recreation Department at (580) 436-8102. Passes include:
* Child – $50
* Adult – $55
* Family – $90
  The pools are available for private parties in the evenings, for a maximum of one and a half hours. Available time slots are 6:30-8 p.m. and 8:15-9:45 p.m. Parties of up to 50 people cost $75 and parties with more than 50 people cost $100. At Wintersmith Park, use of the splash park is included for private parties.
  The Glenwood Park pool is scheduled to close on July 31. The Wintersmith Park pool is scheduled to close August 14.

City accepting applications for flag football
 
   ADA – For the seventh consecutive season, the City of Ada Recreation Department will manage a non-contact flag football league for youth between first and sixth grades.
   Registration is $30 per player. The deadline to register is Friday, August 26. No late applications will be accepted. All players who register will be placed on a team.
   Draft day is scheduled for Thursday, September 1. Only coaches can be present for the draft. Coaches may reserve practice fields on draft night.
   The season begins Monday, September 19.
   Applications are available at the Irving Community Center; Ada City Hall; or online at www.adaok.com, on the Parks & Recreation page.
   The flag football league is intended for recreation only. Standings are not kept. All games are played on Monday and Tuesday at Matthews Park, 601 S. Hickory.
   For possible rainout information, call 332-5150 after 3:30 p.m. on game day.
